Cedar Creek was the lucky campus to support the Dad's Club as a start up! When I joined the Booster Club Executive board at Cedar Creek, so did the amazing Chad Wicks. We quickly supplied the Dads with some safety vests and watched them make Fridays FUN at morning drop off. The Dads took off, adding a fall social to the calendar, many campus clean ups, they adopted a road and jumped in anytime they possible could for the school and surrounding community. You could feel the support on so many levels at Cedar Creek. I remember watching a teacher (in some really cute shoes) stand under her umbrella thanking every dad that she could - for now she would be dry for the morning because they were more than happy to open car doors in the rain. One day, Simms Browning organized (I would approximate) over 30 dads to do drop off! The energy that day was incredible. Now that those original founding parents have kiddos in high school, the dads have rebranded to the Westlake Dad's Club. The recent social event this fall included a creative costume contest and featured a spotlight on EEF's Teacher Fund. I talked to parents from all our Eanes campuses. There is nothing these Dads won't do for our kids on their educational journey. Alex Pettitt, Dr. Shawn Laney and my hubby Tim Marwill did a closet spruce up over the summer in the band hall for Kristin Hames, Band Director at Hill Country. Not only does Alex not have a musician in the band, both of his girls are in high school- and still he is volunteering for the good of all students. I'm so inspired by what these Dads have done and highly encourage you to get involved at westlakedadsclub.com
